Course Description

Yoga for the Actor is a practice that integrates Yoga principles to enhance sustainable performance tools for actors and non-actors alike. It provides an accessible method for cultivating a healthy relationship to your vulnerability through the mind, body, spirit connection. Our focus is on specific asanas (Yoga poses) that help release pent-up emotions, allowing for a sense of ease and a healthy detachment from characters that often experience high stress or trauma. We invite you into a safe environment where you can freely express and release these emotions on a physical and spiritual level to let go of that which no longer serves you. Through breath work, we will soothe your nervous system, transitioning from a sympathetic (fight or flight) state to a parasympathetic (rest and digest) state. In addition, we will concentrate on building your strength and awareness, fostering a solid and grounded presence for your performances. This will grant you the freedom to experiment with a range of dynamics, from moments of stillness to intense movements, executed with precision and control.
